P6 Newbe

Hi everyone

My name is Tony. I've restored quite a few cars in my time and currently run a 1983 Scimitar SE6b and '98 MGF along with a modern Audi Quattro.

I've now got a 1963 P6 to play with.
It's a 2 owner car with 25k and has been dry stored (warm garage) very well for over 30 years and she comes with enough spares to sink a battle ship- restoration is required but she's remarkably sound.

I'll be asking for advice soon as I've not had one of these fabulous cars before...

It's hasn't been ran for a long time and the coolent has gone to a jelly like state- wondering if that's likely to have damaged the head?

Also any general long term layup recomissoning advice would be appreciated.

Many thanks

Tony

Hi Tony can't really help I'm in a similar situation with a 1964 car which has been off the road for 30 years but has been run and was driving a couple of years ago.
Recently Nick Dunning and a couple of others have been building up a list of all the early surviving 2000's from 1963/1964. If your car has been laid up for that long it may be missing from the list and I'm sure they would love to here from you and see some pictures of your car! Welcome to the forum as well cheers Tam.

Sounds like an excellent project. Only way really to find out is to take the head off, and have a look, I suppose.

Nice to hear of another Scimitar owner with a P6!

Thanks, but Hope a good soaking will do it! What Scimitar do you have?

That's not showing on the DVLA database, so am guessing it's been off the road for a long time.

What's the chassis number?

Chris, HHK series was issued Autumn 1964 so I think by then most of the low chassis number showroom fodder (like mine) would have been moved on. My guess would be 400-05*** chassis number and a Nov/Dec 1964 reg but like you I await the answer with interest cos of course you never know...........;)

I will get the chassis number for you tomorrow. Someone seems to think It was possibly made in '63 but not registered till '64 but I'm not sure on that one....
My friend forgot to give me the V5 so I can't give it to you off that until I pick it up.
