P6 Speedo Cable

Hi
Just bought a 1972 P6 2000 TC. The speedometer cable is not connected to G'Box .I understand from Rover Workshop manual there is a hole in the tunnel to access the connection . Can anyone tell me exactly where it is to save me getting underneath? Thanks

Slide the passenger seat backwards and lift the tunnel carpet and the sound deadening foam should already be pulled back to reveal an access grommet or plate, (can't remember which of the two it is offhand, I always do them from underneath) if the foam is intact you'll need to lift it to find the access you need. It will be the rearmost of the two, the other being for the gearbox filler plug.

Thanks for that , I have found the hole, taken off the cover plate and find the clamp, stud & nut missing. I surpose they could have vibrated loose!! I have sourced replacement bits & hope I have enough room to get them into place . Derek

You shouldn't have any problems fitting them through the access hole. Worst possible scenario is the thread is stripped in the rear housing, but even if that is the case the housing can be replaced in-situ.
