P6 without bumpers

Thanks!

Tried picturing my own car withouth them, still not sure if I like the looks of it. Perhaps I just need to try it out. :)

I think a debumpered S2 looks great with a V8 valance police spoilers - there's a sort of aggressive aquatic quality about it - like a stingray or funny looking shark.

I'm sure somebody on here has done that... Looks good anyway.

I agree! But at the back, just taking the bumper off isn't enough. It needs all the peculiar panel joins that the bumper was hiding sorting out before it looks OK.

Yes, and then there's number plate and reversing lights to think about! A pair of BMC reg plate lights don't do it for me. Perhaps a reg plate recessed into the valance would do it? Or a well style boot with a lift-up lid and fixed rear panel like the Phase III development cars and 105E Anglias have? Ooo, we are getting all custom now, aren't we?!

Since you mentioned it, what about a leaving the numberplate plinth on but having backlit letters? Or perhaps Frenching the plate into the plinth so it could be lit from the top?

Oooo...!
Not sure about backlit letters, but I like the idea of a recessed plate! Wouldn't be easy to make up, but maybe a broad chromed 'peak' over the plate (doubling up as a boot handle) would do the trick. You could even put a reverse light in it like Mk2 Jags, or better still a hi-level brake light??

Great, isn't it! Instant and Global transmission of mindless witter... the wonders of technology!

I frenched mine into the boot lid itself, and lit it from above.

Boot lid was cable operated from inside and the reflectors were blended into the corners of the boot lid. I do wish I had found a picture of it in its finished state.

I welded the rear valance on and smoothed it over to make it look like one piece with the wings, then welded the bumper bracket holes over and smoothed them in as well.

I also smoothed the rear lights in making it look like they were frenched in as well, and later on from the pic, I used two SD1 number plate lights which fitted flush with the top of the frenched box.

One day I might just make another one
