Rover p6b restoration

Hi stue I have got to repair my boot shut to. Did you make the curved part on the right hand side or did you buy it as a repair panel.
Keep up all the great work.

Paul
I bought the repair panel which goes right up to near the rear window but just cut off what I needed.
Bought it in ebay. Think he had more for the same side.

I’ve done that part too & like you I put the rectangular holes in :)

It might seem a bit over the top but if you’re going the ‘whole hog’ I think it’s the details that make the difference

I did think to myself why am making this hole rectangular when you cant even see it but it does make a much better finish too it.
Just need to try and find some of the proper fittings for the valance as they were either rotten or I had to cut.

Thanks stue nice find just bought one. I have started to repair the top part so probably will cut it back out and fit the hole part in.

Thanks paul

No problem.
Considered using the whole panel but the rest is pretty sound on mine.

More welding in the rear today. Nearly there.
The bump stop Mounts I bought are an awful fit though and have had to unpick some of the spot welds. IMG_20201212_173611_058.jpgIMG_20201212_173611_066.jpgIMG_20201212_173611_059.jpgIMG_20201212_173611_080.jpgIMG_20201212_173611_104.jpg

Hi stue just watched your last video as I will have to replace that part on my car. How did you bend the box metal to that shape.
Keep up the good work.
Paul

Do you mean the bit by the spring cup or the previous video of the box right at the back

The bit by the spring was just folded and then put in my stretcher to get the curve.
The box I measured the old one and partly folded and bent round a piece of 1 inch box section

Sorry mate I did not make myself clear. How did you put the curve in the 1 inch box section
That's ok.
I used a shrinker/ stretcher to get the curve so if you dont have one all you could do really is fold to an angle and cut slits, get the curve then weld the slits up.

All the welding done underneath at the rear now with just a little where the rear screen bolts and a deck bracket to fabricate.

Unable to go over my garage with the lockdown now in place but have the rear calipers at home.
Rebuilding them was shortlived though after stripping the first and brake fluid leaking and badly scored bore.
Both now boxed up and off for exchange of a reconditioned pair.
Didnt bother to strip the second caliper.

Finally got round my garage to do a bit at the weekend.
Bit of red oxide on the underside, painted the differential and a few other bits then failed to budge the driveshaft diff collars so i could replace the seals.
