P6B S Project Car

Screen has slipped down as far as it can overnight - can just see the top edge of the glass. Obviously no functional sealer there -was able to clean the newly exposed surface with windex and a rag. Guessing I need to apply some sort of sealer into the top groove, or at least on the top 1/2" of the glass?
thanks

Was all that dust held together by inertia under the bottom of the screen once foam? Could have fooled me! Pried out lots with some wire, then Sucked up all I could with the vacuum cleaner, then blew out the rest with compressed air...

It was definitely foam.
I bought some closed cell foam from ebay to go on mine.

Anybody able to advise how these two pieces are fitted please? The foam is a bit like a chair in cross section - which side goes against the glass? The support rubber section is clearer, but Cant see how it should fit? The big groove like like the glass goes in it ?

thanks
Edit - I worked out the support rubber - fit to the metal rail, shallow groove goes over rail, big groove on the base to cup the glass. Might be fun getting the glass into the groove all the way across. Sponge - does it matter which way it goes in ?

I cannot tell you how the foam goes, as mine was too far gone. The rubber provides a rain gutter for water to run out the ends. It slips over the steel.
It is difficult to imagine seeing it loose like that. I think it will be clear when you offer it up.

Should the loom coming forward from under the wiper motor go under the PAS reservoir? Can it safely go under? Mine goes over the top, and it looks untidy.
Got the new isolators for the wipers mounted - had to search a bit for a short enough 7/16 to get in there.

Cobraboy - yes worked out the fit of the rubber strip, the original was so far gone it did not provide any clue. Will just have to see if the foam fits better one way than another. Mine just crumbled as I poked at it.

I pushed the screen up hard by hand, and marked the top (each side and centre) with touch up to give me a marker for how far it could go up. Plan is to get the foam in somehow, get the support rail with rubber ready, get screen as low as possible, squirt some sealant into the glass groove in the rubber whereve possible (top and sides), fit the support rail and lightly jack screen up, checking my paint marks - allowing for sealant it should get within 1mm of the marks...I hope. Will not load it much.
thanks

I am going to push the foam in whatever way I can get it to fit, with no clear indication of orientation. This is compounded by the fact that my D chassis calls for a part no that seems unavailable, so I only have a foam from previous version. While I was testing how to get it in under the glass the screen slipped right out of the top groove, and was a real PITA to get it back in. Near side wouldnt go in until I found it had turned the lip of the groove inside the cabin, and I had to fix that before it would go in. Trying to work out how to get the support rail fitted while holding the screen up, I recalled something about props at the corners - two bits of 1" sq wood 4-3/4 long did the trick, braced against the bonnet hinge. So now all I have to do is get the bottom edge of the glass into the groove in the new rubber seal on the support...all the way across...underneath the edge. #$%@^&.

Mine was MUCH worse than that! Crumbled when poked.

I have a video of mine somewhere, when I pulled a piece of it off it just turned to dust.

I actually used some closed cell foam I found at work which was a natural colour, and just sprayed it black.

I would assume (and it is just assumption) that the back of your chair faced upward and the rubber strip overlaps it. Try dry fitting there and see what it looks like. Is there any adhesive on it?

The base panel under the glass had lots of lumps of dead adhesive spread all the way across, so I just pushed the foam in as best I could. While the bottom support rail was not fitted the foam kept trying to slip out, so I banked on pushing it back home after all else was done.
After having the new rubber keep coming off the front edge of the rail I glued it on there. Got the glass edge started into the rubber groove at one end, winkled some more in with a bent bit of wire, then went to the other end, started the glass into the groove, installed a strainer thing and loaded the rail upwards, and gradually got all the glass edge into the rubber. Getting the centre support back on was a PITA. Tightened the strainers until the wood struts at the end came loose and locked it up there - paint markers in correct place too! Poked some bits of foam into place from underneath.
Now to get the wipers back in!

I cannot recall doing anything with the wipers other that removing the arms and undoing one nut to remove the front deck panel.

I had to go into mine as the delay didnt work - hose nipple broken off - and it was well worth the effort. All the grease was very dry and hard, the motor commy was very dirty, so now it should outlast me.

Wipers all done. Delay sort of works, but I think the adjuster end on the column is dead - turns in both directions with no feel at all. Plugged the nipple on the wiper unit, and get about 5-7 secs of delay. Had some trouble getting the valance to sit down, and then starting the wiper spindle retaining nuts was a real pain - not really satisfied with that result, so I will have to go in there again.
Running like a bucket of bolts - staying too rich. On checking I found RH carb is wet at the choke fitting, so have ordered service kits for both. Sump gasket work has paid off, just a small weep from the plug (depite annealing the copper washer), but nothing around the gasket line.
Moved the Huco pump lower, down behind the windscreen washer.
Looking at the line of the throttle shaft from bulkead to engine it looks like the gearbox mount has sagged some, which wont help the gearchange stroke for reverse. Sadly I cant see any way to lift the rear at the mount and prop it up - the rubbers are completely contained inside the mount....suggestions as to how I might improve the alignment without major work appreciated. I fear that if I start by dropping the exhaust the manifold bolts will break or strip, and then they will have to come off to fix. Just hope I can live with it as is until I am ready to put the LT77 in.
