Hi all, I'm not a P6 fan more of a VW Beetle and Camper Van kind of guy, all though I do have huge respect for the P6. I thought it was my duty to tell you guys of a little gold mine of a scrap yard I stumbled across a couple of weeks ago (some of you guys may have been there before?).

I counted a minimum of 4 Rover P6's all though I think there may have been more than that (possibly 6+). There was also other classic cars in there such as Rover P5's, 4 Hillman Imps, 2 MGB's, 2 Austin Allegros, Morris Minors, a Triumph Spitfire, a Triumph Herald, a Vauxhall Victor and many others.

I think these cars have probably been in the yard for years, all though some of the cars still have salvageable parts on them such as body panels, lights, interior, trim, etc.

The Scrap Yard address and phone number is:

G M Woodgate & Son
Pot Kiln Lane
High Halden
Ashford
Kent
TN26 3HX

Tel: 01233 850303

I got a couple of photos of two of the P6's in the yard, not sure what model the black one is, but the yellow one is a 2200SC

I should be going there again this weekend, I'll try and get more photos and get an exact number of how many P6's are actually there.

Looks like the yellow one has the ET head rests in it.

Blimey! Your eyesight is good 8)

About the only bit of my body that works well. As I limp over 40 the body is starting to go down hill faster than the rover!

I'm into old VW's aswell as I have a 62 ragtop and an 81 2.0 Viking T3!! Just bought a 66 P6 with my dad to go with our Triumph 1300!!! we love our old motors down here in Cornwall:D :D :D

Blimey a Renault Fuego aswell!!!! owed one of those years ago when it was quite new!! Is the P5 still wearing it's rostyles??

Photos in a car scrap yard could be the new thing on the block "petrol head art" like to see those p5 photos :) always had a thing for those Fuego's, seating always reminded me of an armcair.

Yeah I totally forgot about the Fuego as hadn't seen one on the roads for years, until I saw this one in the yard. Yeah the white P5 still had its rostyles on it.

This photo shows front angle of the white P5, and another angle of the Fuego. Also you will notice on the left another P6, I think I recall that one being a 2000.

I went to the scrapyard again today, and got some photos of the other P6's in the yard. I counted that there are 7 P6s in the yard. Some still with salvageable parts on them.

Delighted to see some of the cars are still at this yard. I went there about 10 years ago and all the P6's (at least 15) were in a separate pen. He also had an absolutely beautiful P4 105S in the shed, in a mid blue. Lovely car.

We need some bits and may well be en route down there this week!

Cheers
Nick

There was a business called Rover Wreckers than existed in the Sydney suburb of Granville. As you might expect from the name, the yard was full of Rovers and from memory the P6 was in the majority. Apart from second hand items they also stocked quite an array of new parts. I went there on a number of occassions up until the late 1980s at which time the owner retired, the land was sold and home units were built there instead.

There was another business called British Auto Parts which closed its doors within the last 2 years or so. Unlike Rover Wreckers, you couldn't really go wandering around through the yard looking at all the wrecks, of which they had a wide and varied assortment from minis to Jaguars, Rovers of all sorts but mostly P6 and SD1, Land and Range Rovers, Triumphs of all kinds plus more.

I always regard scrap yards as a sad place thinking all the cars were once someone's pride and joy
to me they are a wonderland(not in a Michael Jackson context), and whilst they may have been someones pride and joy I cant help but thinking of the lives they have led and the history that lies in the wreck.

My mate went to scrapyard last weekend and took these pictures. The owner of the scrapyard is crushing most of the classics he has in there :-(

Here's a few pictures
