Hi,

Does anyone have a petrol cap lock and key in their spares stash? Mine got screwdrivered by some petrol stealing toerag!!! I hope the additive knackers their catalytic converter!!!!

While I'm asking has anyone got a solid front valance for a 66 2000SC they want to move on??

Cheers

Your local locksmith can remove and replace the lock barrel for not much. They are a common key used on cabinets and stuff so are very cheap. Toerag was clearly braindead as they are very easy to pick....It would have taken longer with a screwdriver.

is anybody actually still locking their P6 petrol cap? as Mike says they are very easy to pick and at the age of the lock the tumbler pins can jump meaning you can no longer get your key in to either lock it or unlock, you then need to "pick the lock" yourself or get a locksmith as mentioned above
can the P6 lock be replaced with anything else more reliable?

Never had any trouble with a P6 cap which l lock every time. On that logic the drivers door locks would likely be first to go & l've never had any trouble with those either.

I lock mine. Not to try to secure it against fuel thieves, but for the opportunist who decides it would be fun to relieve himself in there.

Some of my cars' locks seem to be "one key fits all" - they're so worn

...but they are 50 years old + ;)
