pipe for master & slave clutch cylinder, SORTED I hope !

Hi, I'm the middle of conversting my 73 P6 V8 from BW 35 to LT77 5 spd.

All going well, I'm using a new SD1 clutch slave cylinder/pushrod, new SD1 pivot arm, release bearing and AP clutch kit for the SD1. (the engine block is the SD1 unit that came with the gearbox)

I need to know what the correct union size is for the SD1 Slave/cylinder fliud feed pipe as its metric and a bigger diameter then the union from the 3500's Master clutch cylinder that I'm using.

Any ideas if this makes sense! I'll need to get one made up, at a guess it'll only be about say 2ft long.

I've mounted the clutch master cylinder next to the brake master cylinder but turned the mounting plate around 180° so its away from the exhaust manifold, this is tried and tested by a friend on his P6 and works very will indeed.

Thanks & regards Damian

Re: Feeb pipe between master & slave clutch cylinder info

I cut the flare off the end of the 3500S pipe to remove the Imperial fitting, then fitted the correct Metric one and flared a new end on the pipe. I have to say that particular pipe was probably the hardest, and hence most difficult one I ever did, for some reason. It was made of a lot harder material than normal brake pipe.

Hi,

I used stainless steel reusable fittings from Rally Design and braided hose, I was concerned that the diameter was only brake pipe size but its worked perfecting now for 4 years so can't be bad

Re: pipe between master & slave clutch cylinder, SORTED I hope

Hi Guys,

I've ordered a braided flexi pipe from Merlin motor sport, should be here today, I can make it up & fit hopefully on Sunday.

Since I've driven the car about 8 mile in total, (mainly test drives), the clutch has started to play up, I found myself having to pump the pedal for it to disengage properly with foot right down on the floor :(

Checked for loss of fluid, all is dry on both cylinders, fluid level ok, unbolted the slave cylinder but again all dry & no bits falling out the bottom of the bell housing :)

I'm thinking (long shot) that because I used the copper pipe with the flared ends but not flared in the convexed shape but opposite flare, that there maybe a tiny bit of air getting in due to the non flex in the pipe (copper does have abit of flex I know) I re-bled the system last nite but soon after same struggle to engage gears, must be air getting in?

To begin with it was fine but after a few minutes its a real bitch to engage the gears, one thought but clutching at straws, is the SP performance clutch kit I bought a bit to strong for both clutch cylinders or am I being daft
I did think is the push rod for the slave cylinder a tad to short but then it was working to begin with.

cheers Damian
