Poppy the P6

I meant to say that the door glass rubbers are from Scotts old auto rubber, not sure if they still do them. I bought these about 7 years ago and they are pretty good with all the holes pre-cut.

Take the tow bar off, they're ugly and the electrics are now an MOT test point, if you don't need it get rid.

Love the electric windows, I used all the mechanisms and switch from an early 216 Vitesse, put the switches in the front spreaker grill. Any plans to electrify the rear windows ?

In terms of anti-pinch that's a pretty modern invention, most pre 90's cars don't have it, my 820 doesn't, and the 216 I used for my conversion didn't. Later 800's had it but it complicates the system and makes it unreliable, I'd stick to the simple up down switch setup.

How good would a pillarless P6 look?! Somebody's got to try that!

What are you doing about the rear reflectors? I've never personally had a problem with them, but I know others are going to all sorts of lengths to get rid of them and rejig all the lights! I do agree the wings look neater without them, but I've never seen an alternative that I like enough to want to change them.

I have put one reflector on, strangely the drivers wing has squared hole to take the reflector but no wing trim holes. whilst the passenger wing has the trim holes but none for the reflector.

I don't mind the Reflectors, the boot type don't don much for me though.

A Pillarless P6 would look great, Richards Coupé project gives an idea on how they would look.

Got the door handles back today and they came up really nice considering some of the pitting they had. Just one has visable marks on the topside.

Having cleared out the stuff from my suspended vinyl roof I am tempted to fit it over the weekend if the weather stays nice.

The plater is a chap called Ray, he does an decent job for what I need.

He does sell on ebay but I email him direct. email : chromeworlds@hotmail.com

I noted that even Winns sell GSH door handles at £12 +vat so £18 to replate is not bad. Chrome does tend to add up if you do everything on the car.

Yeah i know , i was quoted £350 for the front bumper , got a nos one for £100 in the end :? Always toying with getting some bits done .

I was quoted £200.00 for the front bumper plus another £100.00 for the over riders. - £400.00 plus vat for one bumper!

I got both bumpers done including over riders, number late plinth, and petrol cap for £405 inc.

I do wonder how long it will last, but they look very nice at the moment.

I had a lot of bits don from my P5 and it was not so bad, I went via a supplier called David Green, it was around £35-40 per overider. Not sure who did the work though.

Ray is pretty reasonable, but you need to keep cleaning chrome. I didn't realise it was porous and nice chrome can be spoiled by little flecks. The insides tend to be quite exposed and if you dont paint it it will very quickly rust.

I would drop an enquiry off to Ray if you are thinking about it, he is decent and unless he includes VAT in the price there aint any.

The front bumper I had was nice but had a few worn patches but 7 years later it is not so good. I might get on of my older 2000 bumpers plated so will get a price from Ray give you an idea.

I managed a roof swap today, also put the rear door handles on.

I did find some rot behind the front stainless trim like JVY did but will tackle this later.

Good to see some more progress Colin. Pity about the A-posts but I'm sure that with your talents you will have yours sorted a lot quicker than I did).

Steve,

it only takes a minutes to mix up some filler

It is quite easy to see how this area rots especially on a car which has bee standing.

The monthly meeting is heading to look at a garage with some old rovers in it if you are free on Wednesday, I will text you.

Colin

Coiln, sorry - just logged on and read your post, so guess I missed out on tonight's expedition. Be sure to let me know what you found please. If you're fixing your A-posts with filler, don't forget to stuff 'em with old newspaper first :D .

Nothing done on the car but Poppy did play a part in my girlfriends 40th Birthday party barbeque yesterday.
