I am considering selling my rover as I have a want for another M5 and don't have room for everything, the trouble is I have no idea of value, the bodywork is pretty immaculate having had a body restoration this year, it passed its MOT with no advisories, drives very well, has had a few new parts including stainless exhaust. prop, driveshafts, etc.

It is also unique in the fact that it is I believe a S2 dressed as an S1 so has power steering and proper dash, I have been told it has been done very well.

any idea's

" Any ideas ? "
Yeah , Keep it ! :D

Well if it's had new paint and it's good you're going to be looking at good money for it. V8s have climbed. I'd have a good look at some on ebay and the classics for sale websites. Price it at the high end and see what offers you get. Price too high and you can always drop it a bit... you cant really put it up afterwards.

So if I was to sell would 4k be over the top, I honestly have no idea, like most cars it owes a fortune but you never get it all back.

on the flip side if it survives this itch it may last another year.

You need to find out if it is a S1 or a S2,as this can make a difference!
Whats the chassis number start with?

Could be double that if really nice!

If it's that nice and you get regular itchy feet, can you not stick it in storage and once you have
the M5 out of your system you can always go back to a real car and repeat the cycle next time
your feet play up.
Meanwhile, I'd suggest a good Chiropodist.....

Unless it's really at the very top of the market the non-originality isn't going to count for much unless it's obviously a "custom" which will work badly against you unless you can find anyone with identical taste. There are plenty of people who'd consider an S1 look with the better instruments and PAS of an S2 the ultimate P6 combination. PAS is going to appeal a lot to two demographics, firstly the *ahem* elder P6 fan and secondly those who simply know no different and would be shocked by unassisted steering when parking.

The panels look great and it looks original and authentic even if it isn't, it depends what's underneath. P6s must be the easiest car ever to look wonderful on the outside.... If it's completely sound I'd be looking at more than £6k. Depends on how quickly you want rid of it. Will be more if you aren't in a hurry.

If it was a bit earlier in the year you could have taken it to a show put "for sale" on it and see what interest you got.

I'm responsible for the Valuations side of the P6 Club, with Nick Dunning carrying out many of these on behalf of the Club.

Feel free to PM me with your email address, and we can look at giving you an idea of what the Club would value it at, if you want..

Chris

I'm not sure this car's transition from being an early S2 to an S1 would probably make too much difference to a prospective buyer.

I'd have thought the £4k marker is about right - maybe more. Anything is only worth what someone's prepared to pay for it though :)

Just had a quick look on the DVLA site and it was registered in May '71 so it's well past the transition phase, but the S1 grill doesn't look out of place. If the rest of it is as nice as what we can see in the pics it'd be nice to see it go for £4-5k, maybe a bit more.

Well after some thought I am going to give the car a go on car and classics, not going to touch ebay as a lot of time wasters all asking if you will take half your asking price if they pay cash, I have no idea what else they think they can pay with.
I am in no rush to sell but desperately running out of room with the P6, P5, Opel manta, Ford galaxy, Peugeot 308, Citroen C3 and 2 motorbikes, you get the idea.

Told you a barn would be needed!!
BUT!!!
Put it up for sale on the forum first once you decide on an asking price!
A good write up and lots of pics and/or a link to a photo album!
Obviously there will be some haggling, but nothing like the idiots on E-bay!

its official, my car doesn't want to go, I had someone view it this evening, the car hasn't been started for a couple of weeks but started fine then on the test drive my vibration came back but very slight and it made a one off noise iv never heard before, possibly brakes but will have to have a look.
It run fantastic last time I had it out, sods law.
