After not being able to obtain a preferred brand of UJ's, I searched around for something I could buy with confidence.
And at a reasonable price.
I found Rock Auto Parts in the U.S.

I must say, upon receipt of them, they are exactly what i had hoped for.
Solid...well finished...good weight...well made.

They look the part, but the proof of the pudding as always will be in the eating. Be interesting to hear how they last once in use.

I bought some made in USA AC Delco uni joints from that site for my Rover 2000 for the propshaft. Turned out that the half shaft joints needed replacing. Although rockauto.com do not have a part number listed under Rover for the half shaft uni joint, if you go to part number search, and search with 331, you will find the same Moog brand, which fits the half shaft.

They look good Brenten. Must say that I have never seen a grease point in the cup face like that before.

Do you have a particular grease in mind to run with them?

Ron.

Hi Brenten,

I have been using Castrol EPL-2 for the universal joints since 1986. I had a set fitted into the tailshaft that year and they ran for 21 years covering 155,000 Miles (250,000km). They were replaced with the Hardy Spicer set which now have 66,421 Miles (107,000km) on them.

Regular greasing is important, with every 2 to 3000 Miles (3 to 5000km) being a good idea. With uni joints, you can never grease them too much.

Ron.

If you aren't injecting grease into UJ's under pressure, is there any point ? Could you modify the UJ cups to accept a screw-in nipple?
