Rear band

So do you think adjusting the rear band as you described to Jonboy would be my first approach? Seems the simplest way forward.

You can try that, I have had the adjusters work loose in the past, but if the adjustment goes up a long way then that is indicative of another problem, such as the servo housing cracked or loose on its mounting. As with jonboy, he went through the whole process and it turned out to be a sevo seal failure.

Mines a '72 RHD - what side of the tunnel will the adjuster be.

Driver's side. There's an access hole above the adjuster in the tunnel.

Thanks Harvey.
Sounds like I will be taking her pants off at some stage.
Never too old to learn? You and jonboy have given me confidence to get into this one.
thanks Guys

Hello again Harvey, trying to get the correct adjustment on kickdown cable, i have had the sump off again, and i can see where the cable attacthes to the cam ,just wondered if you have any pictures of how this should sit against the valve please, John

The heel of the cam should sit against the valve, it should not be held off that position by the cable at rest, but as soon as the throttle starts opening, the cam should start to move. If you were to disconnect the cable from the cam, and allow the spring pressure on the cam to hold it back against the valve, that's the position it should be at rest with the cable fitted back on, with no slack in the cable.

Hello once again Harvey hope you have been well in these trying times, when you gave me advice about cam on kickdown valve should the cam travel all the way on acceleration please.

With the cable correctly set, that limits how far the cam can rotate. It cant go past a certain point because then the end of the cable will want to start going down again and the kickdown cable will be acting as a throttle stop. I'd say set the cable adjustment correctly and see how it performs.

I only found one pic of the cam and bracket, and it doesn't really tell you much.

Is the cam suppose to move as soon as the throttle starts to open or only on full throttle when you want kickdown please,

The cam is supposed to move as soon as the throttle starts opening. There should be no slack in the cable, but it shouldn't be so tight as to be holding the cam off its stop at rest.
