rear brakes p6b '74

after much ado trying to get past MOT as rear brakes either fail of JUST pass! ( handbrake that is ) finally set up cable tension to virtually nil play with actuator levers resting on backstops. busted disc 'glaze' with emery cloth and with fingers crossed took it for a retest. patted self on back as get another year to enjoy? ( pay for) the old girl. As new discs and callipers were fitted along with cable about 900 miles ago.. chatting to others seem to have possibility the actual 'pads' may be the real issue? different compounds? etc. so will look at sourcing from a different supplier if fails again. I hear Mintex did at one stage do pads for front and rear ? have added couple pics for clarity . Hopefully won't get too much criticism ..

It won't make any difference to the braking efficiency, but the springs and shims are fitted the wrong way around, the spring should be on the back, and the shim on the front. I put the clevis pin in the other way around as well.

have to wait until pads need changing. everything was assembled as before using pics ad notes. so assume was incorrectly built at some time. still thanks for heads up.
