Rear gearbox mount BW35

Im about to replace the large rear metalastic gearbox mount -BW35.
The rubber has gone mushy after 45 yrs. Not a bad innings.
I have the new bush .
the centre is offset.
I havnt removed the old bush yet.
My question is : how/where does this offset , sit?
Ive only got the bush not the complete unit. So will have to knock the old one out. As the old one is so far gone I can't see where the centre hole sits when put back together.

The hole sits at the bottom, so that the weight is pushing up through the part with the most rubber.

Don't forget there are two types of mounting.

Hopefully you have the right fitting! Last year I noticed my rear gearbox bush was in the same state as yours, I thought the £60+ quoted for a replacement was a rip-off, one from a BMW front suspension at £14 on eBay was a possible, but I raided the junk box in our local garage and found a new front anti-rollbar bush, unknown car model, with off-centre bush which after a lot of swearing and Fairy liquid I managed to get into the hole at the back of the gearbox. The noise from underneath the car which I had always put down to the exhaust knocking subsequently ceased, so I know that if it comes back I need to bodge again and re-bush! Good luck.

I actualy sort of went down that road .
Looked at getting it rebushed. More than a new one. And then looked at just buying a piece of polly . I had to buy the whole bar about 300mm long. Once again ,not cost effective.
So here I am.
I live out in the booh-eye. So running around town sort of grates on me.
Thanks for your experience all the same.
Gerald

In Oz there is a standard fFord Falcon front suspension bush that can do the job with mild modification, possible there might be a UK Ford with similar bush?
