i want to fit a rear seatbelt (for a child seat) in my 2000sc. There does not seem to be any obvious place to mount the seat belt. Has anyone successfully done this or does anyone have any ingenious suggestions?

many thanks

I had the same problem as you as i have a 6 year old ..so i used some seat belts from a fiesta(it was what i was breaking up at the time but any will do..)I drilled hole for the belt under the rear seat on the ear bulkhead and welded a reinforcing plate on top of the hole just to add a bit more strength and fitted the top section of belt on the rear parcel shelf and the stalk bit on the rear bulkhead the same as the belt..I only put a 3 point belt on each side of the armrest and didnt bother with a lap belt...the belts look ok and are the same colour as the front belts already in the car which are rover ones..

I used some aftermarket belts that were fitted in a cavalier I used to have, plus the lap belt from a rover 216. I didn't need to make any mounting points though, the p6 had then already there.

I mounted the reels on the parcel shelf, the ones I used had small "switches" to allow them to work horizontally or vertically.

The mounting points for seat belts are all there!

I have just fitted 2 3 point rear inertias and a lap belt to the rear seats of my wifes 2000TC. (1972)

It was simple and fast - no need to do any welding of brackets at all.

(Many years agoi I had a 1968 seris 1 - that also had the rear mounting points)

Take the seats out - and the cover on the rear shelf - 2 mounting points with threads on the shelf)

Mounting points on the just above the seat base (each side)

Mounting points (2) either side of the centre arm rest

sorry forgot to add that wasnt for my p6 (its already got them in it......what i meant to add was thats what i dont to my 100e anglia.......

Forgot to add. If you fit rear inertias - you will need an inertia real that works fitted horizontally. I fitted ones by Securon "universal"

Found new ones on ebay for 25% of the cost from retailers!

When fitting the rear belts did you cut the padding on the parcel shelf or use a spacer of some sort between the belt and the mount - I have Securon belts ( 254 model ) and currently intend to use slightly longer bolts and a spacer so I can retain the parcel shelf without cutting it - any comments ?

Also interested if people have fitted a lap belt for the middle of the seat - can this share the center mounting points with the belts for the main rear seats ?

Been looking at this again this morning - biggest issue with fitting inertia reels in the back seems to be how to clear the back of the rear seats - I have a series 1 and the mounting point is much lower than the back of the seat - anyone have any advice or pictures of theirs fitted ?

My securon belts came with an assortment of bits including spacers. Have fitted inertias at the rear. Angle the inertias "inwards" slightely - the belt goes over the top of the seat - No problems and doesnt look out of place. I havent a clue how to post pictures on to this site!! - However - message me with your email address and I will then send you a couple of pictures if it would help

Thanks - think I am getting there now - my first mistake was trying to mount them horizontal on the shelf - I now have a 90 degree bracket coming off the mounting point with the belt in a vertical position - belt coming out at the top - works quite well - I will take some pictures and post them somewhere once finished.
