Refitting Crank Pulley

The crank pulley bolt should get 270 Nm
I´ve taken it off with my air-operated rattle gun. Heads are still not refitted, so I could block piston 1 (have made a simple steel bar to block cyl.1 and find TDC) and rattle again....
Advisable or too tough ?

Personally I'd lock it with a screwdriver in the ring gear. If you have someone to do that bit you can give it a blast with the rattle gun. I've never torqued them up, I haven't a clue what 270Nm is in real money, and I've never had one come loose, let alone fall off.

270 Nm is a lot for the home mechanics (around 200 ft/lb), but later cars go to 400 Nm and more for the crank-pulley connection. Ok, will see today, how it works. I have a compressor with a rattle gun.
