Refitting rear screen surrounds

After 25 years looking for a decent P6 I eventually found one that had been in storage for 43 years on the island of Tenerife.
One of the things they need refurbishing was the rear screen seal.
New one duly bought from Wadham's.
Problem is - nowhere for the chrome surround to fit into.
Wadham's assure me it is the correct one, but it hardly fits into the channel and there are gaps at the corners.
Has anybody else had the same problem, or do I have the wrong rubber seal?

Hi Clive.
You have to fit the stainless mouldings to the base unit first, then fit windscreen with rubber attached.
The rubber then covers half of the stainless moulding when correctly fitted.

Having said that, when I cut the old seal out it seemed to be on both sides of the steel trim.
Or maybe I misremember it (is that even a word? If not, it should be).
