The sender unit is u/s on my 1972 3500..my mechanic contact is worried about the fuel remaining in the tank, so guys , can you advice me as to the tried and tested method for draining the tank .
Also would you anticipate that any new seals or copper washers or specialist tools . will be needed.
Finally, is the sender unit located at the bottom of the tank
Thank you.

All you can do is disconnect the pipes and let it drain into a container, and as the pipes have to be removed anyway to remove the sender it's no extra work. Use two spanners on the pipe fittings or they will twist off. There is a rubber seal between the sender and the tank. There is a special tool for the lockring but you can use a blunt screwdriver or chisel with a hammer. It's under the car next to the diff.

Sorted !! thank you , have had dealings with Wadhams recently, found them so helpful .. I purchased a uprated radiator from them .. that sure cured my overheating problems !! thank you for your help

He's closed at the end of this month into the start of next month but you might get it if you get your order in quickly.

You might be able to get your sender unit working - see my previous posts under ‘Lights Camera Action’. (On my mobile atm & don’t know how to do a link....).

To Phil Robson .. you were kind enough to mention that I may be able to repair the fuel sender unit on my P6 3500.. BUT, sorry to say that I cannot locate the info that you mentioned may be in "lights, camera "... any suggestions ?
Regards
Pat
