I'm very sad to hear this, it's a great loss not only to his family, but to the Rovering community too.

Edit: is there anything the forum members can do to help?

I am so very sorry to hear this.
Rick gave me lots of advice and encouragement regarding my car over the last few months, and in every custom detail I make upto the final incarnation I will always have him in mind.
Sad that he never got to complete his coupe project :(
Cars aside, you seemed like such a genuine person whom I sadly never got to meet.
My thoughts are with your family and friends Richard, rest in peace
Jim

Sad news indeed. My thoughts and condolences go out to Richard's family and friends.
Some words of my own to accompany him on his trip...........

"Fly on wings of steel my friend, just another corner will take you to the end.
The road will twist, the road will turn, a Rovering we will go.

"Another minute, another mile, another blink and I will see your smile.
The day will dawn, the day will set, a Rovering we will go.

"With every long breath, with every heart beat I travel this road and my love I will meet.
With God's eye as my guide and your face as my light a Rovering we will go."

This is horrible sad news and I hardly know what to say. My thoughts are with Richard's family.

I never met Richard but just got the impression he was one of the good guys. I will never forget all the good and worthwhile advice he has given me and others on this forum. I'm just gutted and really miss him already. Don't know to else to say - too upset.

A very very sad day, My condolences go out to Richards family and friends.
may you rest in peace, you will always be in our hearts and thoughts.

devastating news. My thoughts are with his close friends and family. I only met him once fleetingly but from our virtual dealings i know him to be a great guy.

Rich.

There is not much to add to the above, except I have an overwhelming feeling of sadness for Richard's family after so much suffering. The effect Richards death has had on those who only had fleeting dealings with him is large, but the hole left in their lives must be huge.

John.

Can I on behalf of Richard's Family thank all those who have posted above.

I have just returned from the Hospital & Rick's house.

Richard lost his fight with the infections at around 08.30 this morning.

Joanne was at his side when he finally slipped away,
his mother and sister were close to hand at well.

Richard always knew from the day he was diagnoised with Leukemia that it would probably
be the associated infections that would cause him the most problems as time went on.

This was his third major stint in hospital and we all thought he might just win this round on points...

He was a good friend, a dedicated family man and let's not forget a Petrol Head of the best kind.

He will be sorely missed not just by family and friends but by many car people
that he never met in person but tried to advise on this forum and others.

It is too soon to say as yet what plans are being made for the funeral, when I know more
details I will post as to place and time and where tributes can be sent.

R.I.P. Mate
The world is a worse place for your departing.

What sad news. Richard had fought his terrible illness so bravely & with dignity; he will be missed greatly.

Our hearts go out to his family.

Can't add much to the above, he put up a hell of a fight. I never met Richard but felt like I knew him well through the forum. My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this very sad time. Mick

Very sad news indeed. Our thoughts go out to his family on this sad day. I met Richard a couple of times at events shortly after I got my first P6 and he will be greatly missed.

Not a lot else I can say really. I'll await news on the family's preferred form of tributes etc.

Dave

Terribly sad news, I too would like to offer my condolences to Richard's family and friends. RIP Richard.
