Rover 75 1949

Hello to all .... I am a Newbie on this site.
My father in law has a beautiful Rover 75 1949 p3 six light which has a worn gear ring on the flywheel which means it wont start with the starter motor.
He has been trying to find out his options on fixing this problem.

What is the set-up on the flywheel?? Am I correct in saying that the gear is part of the flywheel or is it a separate gear ring. I have looked at some drawings and it seems that its a solid piece

If the gear ring is part of the flywheel are these hard to find as new or recon.?
If the ring is separate can we get a replacement ring to shrink fit on??
Any help here is very much appreciated
Thanks in anticipation

Parts list only shows a flywheel ( No. 212381 ) which infers no separate ring gear . I wonder if Rover did later do a spare to be fitted after machining off the worn Teeth area. Someone on Rover Sports Register (RSR) site may have more info. Suggest you ask the question. They have some used spares so you may be able to pick one up . Contact Us . I see there is an RSR badge on the vehicle
The flywheel is also used on early Series one Land Rovers . Try Dunsfold they might have one Dunsfold DLR
In 1950/51 LR Series Ones had a different flywheel ( Same Engine) for the Borg & Beck clutch in place of the Rover one, which does have replacement ring gear. I wonder if that Ring could be fitted. Also Try these two firms for a solution -Mike Couldry at Meteor Spares Service Ltd.-tel. 0115 9811222- or Mike Evans at Viking Engineering Developments Ltd.- tel. 07879 630511
