Rover P6 with a Suffix D?

Hey all,
Can't seem to find much definitive information on this, but as far as I am aware, V8's fitted to the P6 were all Suffix A & B, whereas the one fitted to mine is a Suffix D which I thought were only fitted to Range Rovers. These are a lower compression (8.25 or something) and lower horsepower - although always seems quick enough to me

Engine group is usually defined by first 3 digits, and suffix. My 74 is a 481...D and is 9.25:1 CR. IMHO nicest engine in general - doesnt need high octane, good torque curve, and revs well, where the 10.5:1 CR are more peaky, poor low end torque. My Chassis is also a suffix D. Export Rangies (to Oz anyway) were commonly 8.13:1 CR - lower power, good low end torque and pretty much un-stallable.

...and of course the heavier flywheel helps.
