Guten Morgen

Das hier ist schlimm.

We are not coming to Rugeley.

We decided last night. A tough one.
To describe everything attached would be endless. And as I am on Chris Computer, this is a good excuse not to start.

Last week was awful. The trip to England was strenuous. (Running out of words already)
What we just SEEN in the past 50 hpurs or so, is more than we could comprehend in a week.

I gotta go.

JIMMY IS MORE THAN WE EVER THOUGHT HIM TO BE !
CHRIS IS BEYOND EVERYTHING I COULD DESCRIBE !
COLIN AND .. .

Well, you know.

This is so sad.

Godd bye and

HAVE A VERY NICE DAY !!

Hi there,

Stefan called me at about 08:30 pm yesterday (continental time).

Heike and Stefan were stuck in Dover as the ferry wouldn´t go due to storm over the channel.

Both were tired....but happy !!!!
Jimmy runs without problems !!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Stefan told me, that Heike is VERY proud of Jimmy, Stefan sure is, too, though he still is not able to say so I think.

"England ist WUNDERSCHÖN !!!" were almost the first words Stefan said on the phone, certainly one of the biggest reasons for me to be sad NOT to have come with them together with the point of not seeing you at Rugeley, but I had MY reasons not to visit you yet (Money, time, family etc.) !!!

He also told me that deciding to leave earlier was a VERY hard decision.
Meeting you all was (and is) a VERY big wish from all of us, Stefan and Heike already had the honour to get to know Chris and Colin.

For my part.......I can´t wait to see, hear and drive Jimmy !!!!!

The three of us are making plans already to visit you under different circumstances with more time and a better planing........I don´t know when that will be, I hope it will be soon !!!!

Cheers

Jimmy and Lucky both had a very difficult weekend. Jimmy has clearly not been used properly for some years and was definitely fighting tooth and nail to be allowed an extra lie in! He kept at it right up to the trip back from the tune up on Saturday morning, when he boiled his battery! A voltmeter showed the alternator was pushing out up to 21 volts! So a bit of a panic to get an alternator at very short notice.

On the Friday night Lucky had chucked a load of coolant out and broken his plastic fuel filter, spraying fuel all over the manifold (and pound notes out of the wallet!). I'm fairly sure the first was due to an extremely illegal sprint up to meet Heike and Stefan off the train from Germany. Lucky is prone to leak from the blank radiator cap on th rad at high power and I think he just got to the point of not having enough coolant, but I haven't been able to verify that yet and I have "head gasket" lurking at the back of my mind! I managed to jury rig the fuel supply to the carbs on Saturday morning whilst Colin was off tracking down alternators. Then on the run back to Bristol the tailpipe fell off the back silencer, and I know I have one slightly perished exhaust support O ring further forward on the system, so I wasn't confident that the front part of the system could hold up the rear can.

We thought about all coming up inJimmy, but that would have meant Stefan and Heike going to Dover via Bristol afterwards and they were already very tired. And we were right really, because Jimmy had one further last attempt at avoiding a trip to Germany. After Stefan and Heike set off I had a panic phone call after about five minutes - no wipers and the fuse box is hot! So we wnt through all the fuses, nipped up the holders for a stronger grip and checked we had the right diameter and length of fuses and all was finally well!

Lucky has probably just selected his moment to have the "Big Exhaust" fitted that has been in my garage for a year or two. He also has a blow between manifold and system on the right hand side, which I've left because I'm fairly sure the manifold studs will shear if I nip them up any further than I already have, they just don't feel right as you put load on the spanner. So with a manifold to come off and one dead silencer I think that the new system has to be a no brainer.

Just waiting to hear from Stefan and Heike whether they are home OK yet, to complete the story.

What a weekend! And very cross indeed to have missed seeing everybody at Rugeley.

Chris

Guten Tag Chris,

maybe Lucky wanted to show you that he needs some extra attention after you spent so much work/care on Jimmy !

Hope he´s alright in the meantime !
