Running one LPG

I think, not many P6 may run on LPG, it's more common in the Netherlands (you are from ?). No one knows, how your LPG system really works, think it will have no lambda controller, or ?
LPG normally "burns" hotter than gasoline, so it´s normally adviced to set ignition later than with gasoline, so the engine will not be stressed so much, when the piston get´s its BANG goeing down.
6 degree BTDC (before) at correct idle speed is for Super Plus gasoline, but if your engine is running smooth with it, it´s ok. If you have not set it yet, I would start with less, i.e. 4 degree BTDC.

My car, the duchess, runs on lpg. I also use a BLOS carburettor. The advice I have received is to set the timing as far advanced as it will go before the engine "pinks"' and then to ease it back till it just does not. The duchess cruises well and for the most part drives well, but I have problems with idle and am trying to sort them out. It is nit easy to separate tuning the BLOS and tuning the vapourizer. I will get there sometime soon. The effect on the cost of driving is dramatic.

Normally I believe a dual timing solution is used where on Lpg the timing is automatically advanced. Are you on points or an electronic ignition system?

I don't use mine enough to warrant expense of installation etc. mind you the EPAS ? steering assist sounds good. not seen that for rover p6 at NEC show .mayb next time i go there . other members may want to consider that too? £? and who ? where ? self fit etc might be helpful.

If you advance the timing till it pinks and back a little bit then maybe you end up too advanced at idle?
It's a lot of playing about but you can get different weights and springs for the distributor to alter the advance.

Hi everybody i ame from Belgium my car is a V8 from 1970 the ignigtion is a pertronic II she is Running Good but not smooth she vibrate tho mutch for me . Gone look if i chanche the timing che gone run otherwise . Thanks a lot for your reaction .

hmh..., vibrations are a little bit strange for a RV8. Could be a "hard" combustion due to ignition too early, but up to worn-out rubber supports for the engine (still the first ones ?) there could be several reasons....
