S1 V8 at the rolling road

Hi all

Off to Aldon Automotive in the big blue beasty tomorrow for a go on their rollers.

So now taking bets on what bhp I'll be getting!

Car's a 1970 S1 high compression V8 running unported SD1 heads and a 20 thou overbore. Standard cam that looks in good nick, steel timing gears & electric fans. Simon bbc electronic ignition & distributor, non ballasted coil with magnacore leads. Free flow filters on the 180 elbows, HS carbs with KK needles in. No rear silencer and a tired LT77 5 speed.

I'm hoping for at least 150bhp at the flywheel...... And for it not to explode.

Any takers?

160 at the flywheel, working on the basis that the standard hi-comp engine was rates at 158 when new, but you have to take a bit off for age, but then add a bit on for the overbore and the improved flow of the inlet and exhaust.

No explosions.

I must get mine on one, I'd be interested to see what that puts out (SD1 block, 3.9 heads and cams, standard intake, only the rear silencer).
 
Same as Baron, somewhere around 160 I reckon going by my standard-ish SD1 V8 made 170 with a sports exhaust, efi and coilpack ignition :D
 
I'll go high end at 185... And if you aren't there I'll be the one who suggests you get it there, without giving you a penny towards it :D
 
Oh I want it up there!

This is planned as a 'before' activity - there's lots of bits waiting in the wings for (probably next summer).

I only guessed at about 150 because it keeps pace with dad's 2.5 quad cam Subaru Legacy, which has 150..

wonder how much torque it will have...

Will be taking a video of it because I bet it'll sound immense.
 
My optimistic guess is 135, rover probably weighs less than a subaru legacy by a good margin. The less optimistic guess is 120 ish.

But I will be happy to be disappointed by my guess.

Total cut out of engine on the A64, twice, no idea what's going on there, plus high speed misfires....
