Scammers

Hi all

We vett everyone who wishes to join the forum, and there are a lot, my personal record for vetting applicants was 114 in a singe day. However, just now and again a scammer or other undesirable slips through.

If you have asked for something in the 'Wanted' section please look out for the warning signs.

1/. Red flag if someone sends you a private message - most people would post on the thread, or at least post that they will send you a PM.

2/. Red flag if someone says that his mate has one of those, and he'll fix you up. Try to get him or his mate to post pictures and more details on the thread.

3/. Red flag if they ask to to pay by ebay gift card, or paypal family and friends etc. Look into anything out of the ordinary to ensure you can get your money back if the items fail to materialise.

4/. Red flag if something just seems 'dodgy.' If it feels dodgy, it probably is. Check it out thoroughly before parting with any money.

I asked a well known forum member on here if he would get something for me, and then ship it to me internationally. He bought it, and had it personally delivered for my collection in the UK. Then when I asked about payment he wouldn't take any money. Is this a scam?

Seriously, he knows who he is, and I can only express my gratitude, and say that in my experience that's what most of the members on here are like.

He is very obliging, he does that for me.
Trouble is he keeps sending me these cute teddy bears, the quality is not great though, the seams keep coming undone and all this white powder gets in my carpet

If you use a straw up your nose you can suck the powder out of the carpet easy. Also makes any task after that go double quick.

Yes I was scammed recently. And I must thank Quattro for his post on this subject. In my case a number of the red flags were there. I learnt a few lessons in the course of blowing $100. Never ever pay by ebay gift card, never ever respond to someone who has cut and pasted your post into their response, never ever respond to someone who knows someone... If you live in Australia , never ever respond to someone whose names are characters in ' Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea' and ' I Dream of Jeannie' or claims to live in Geraldton WA (apologies to genuine Rover people, if any, in that town). I'm still trying to get my head around the fact that scammers have their tentacles in what i would have thought was by international standards a remarkably obscure web site. But that is the world we live in ...

PS, and yes if you do have light formica trim and you are prepared to undergo a full body cavity search, then I'm interested ( not in the full body cavity search, but the trim) LOL
