Sd1 Clutch Pressure Plate Required

Hi, Checking on here

http://www.spagweb.com/v8mini/tech_files/clutch_QH08.pdf

If you scroll down to Rover for the SD1 it says -

2000 is 216mm dia with 25.4mm -23 spline.
2.3 and 2.6 is 231mm dia with 25.4 - 23 spline.
3.5 is 241mm with 25.4 - 23 spline.

However if you scroll up to Ford for Sierra and Granada they have 215mm with 25.4 - 23 spline. So that will broaden you area of search.

^^^ That is really useful info. I was sure that they were different sizes, all the ebay listings say their clutches do the entire 2000=3500 range.

Hi, The 6 pots and the V8 both use the same pressure plate it's just the centre plate that's different, according to the part Nos.

Whats the difficulty getting a pressure plate? Just that you want NOS? I ordered and paid on line for a v8 one for my project (amassing lots of parts - hope I get it finished?) recently as it was cheap (but common make) - they were out of stock, no prospect of getting one soon, so they gave me an up spec Exedy unit at same price. Winner!

Richard got a 1.6 Sierra driven plate that the notes l got with the box specified but it doesn't fit. The centre hole doesn't clear the Rover pressure plate which the notes also specify.
What plates have you LT77 fellows used in the V8 conversions?20220914_161149.jpg

LT77/V8 - this might well be out of date now but in 2015 I used this lot from Rimmer: slipper pad 159003A, pushrod clip UKC1806, clutch fork LBU1234, clutch kit 3 piece V8 self centreing ZZRB7491. I also had to change the slave cylinder pushrod but can't find the receipt/part number and have a feeling I may have needed a different clutch arm pivot?
The centre splined plate from a 200Tdi 2.5 litre turbo diesel Land Rover is virtually identical and much cheaper, it just has an extra set of anti-rattle springs between the splined centre and the friction plate.
Apparently the very much cheaper 3 piece 200Tdi clutch kit fits (albeit with a heavier pedal feel) but you also need everything else too, the release arm, arm pivot, pushrod, bearing slippers and so on - can anyone confirm this?

I don't remember any sierra parts being mentioned, in fact i have just checked, and for the Rover 4 cyl to LT77 mating you need a spigot bearing from a 1.8 Marina (part No AH0 7026A) and and a clutch driven/friction plate from SD1 2000 or Sherpa (GEP 273).

Thanks for all the info chaps.

No, it wasn't mentioned as l hadn't looked at the notes for some time. I was originally working on the assumption that an Sd1 2000 plate was needed then this thread threw up the other possibilities. A quick search of that spigot No doesn't show anything, ANG show this on a search for the bearing though the Marina engine apparently used two lengths of bush:

CRANKSHAFT SPIGOT INNER BUSH (1") ; MARINA 1800, 1800TC, 1800HL - ANG Classic Car Parts

Also l'm not sure of the quality of this component due to well-discussed reasons of origin.

However I have this blueprint which was supplied with the gearbox for a spigot bearing, the original being jammed in the engine the box was taken off:

I'm planning on contacting the firm up in Yorkshire which turned up the spigot bearing which was needed for my Morris Oxford 1800 to standard box liason. A rather large & more convoluted item than standard due to the late camshaft in my replacement engine.
They should be up to it l think.
