hi,
One of my headlights sealed beams has blown and I cant find any reference to the wattage in the workshop manual, its the inner drivers side lamp. I believe it is a single filament too ? and 5 inch dia....

That is one of the driving lamps - high beam only. I use 130w aircraft landing lights in mine, but it gives the fusebox a hard time and you need plastic covers to get through rego as they are plain glass. The largest Rover list is 75W standard is 50w. Note that they don't keep more than a couple of years as the sealing material dries and cracks then they smoke up internally....I think you can get Stanley ones still at a reasonable price.

hi Mike, today I bought a new inner sealed beam and the only thing offered was a 100w ,clear lens, aircraft landing light, for $11.99 from Autopro.
Why did you need plastic covers for rego? the replacement is brighter than the original.

Normal headlight lenses are made from a splinterproof glass which breaks into little rectangles in an accident. The plain lenses aren't so they can splinter into shards in an accident and become a bunch or razer sharp knives. The plastic covers contain all the bits in an accident so plain glass is ok, just....unless you get a grumpy rego man. The brighter lights make a big difference in the bush. If they don't accept it, Pm me and I'll send you some places you can get them from.

You can buy new units with replaceable bulbs.

If you are struggling to find 5 3/4 inch units find a triumph supplier, stags and a few others have these lamps.
