Seat Belt Buckles Inertia Reel Kangol

Would anyone have a pair of Kangol seat belt buckles for a P6. The ones I have are way too long some 18" overall, and I am not sure if they were ever meant for a P6. I have seen some shorter buckles around and some that have larger housing that may fit.

My belt has this fitting on the end if it helps.

I thought I had the whole belt which I took out of a P6, but it is a Britax , the blade has A662 & 3204-736 on it . The stalk is 250mm long and looks similar to yours . You could have the whole thing if you want to try it, for the cost of the Postage.

Hmm appreciate your kind offer but I will try and hold out for pair of the Kangol type as I would be concerned about compatibility.

Most photos of the P6 seem to show this type of seatbelt stalk. Not sure if this is original compared to my version? They do look more original fit in my opinion. Perhaps mine are after market as I cannot believe they would fit the stocks so long.

these are what I think are correct. fitted in mine and seen same in other rover p6's. fairly sure they are original fittings

Hi, The longer stalks are for fitting to a vehicle that had a lower tunnel or one that had the mounting point on the side of the tunnel. Back in the day you could go up the breakers yard and grub around for what you wanted but that's not really an option now. You will have trouble finding someone who will break up a set and be left with a partial set they are unlikely to be able move on. Rover would have had more than one supplier of equipment like this, the Britax set could well be fitted to another car on the line so the Kangol set would not be exclusive fitment. I think you could take up the offer and sell your set to recoup some money, you could even come out ahead.

I would probably consider taking a set of belts if they were available and looked like the style in the beige coloured interior example shown in the photo.

That type are in my current 2200TC
You could get a new set from Seat Belt Repairs | Seat Belt Replacement | Seat Belt Refurbishment Quick Fit SBS Ltd.
I have in the passed got a set of belts secondhand with the buckles I wanted, and got Quick Fit . to make them up with the webbing I wanted, to correct length and new reels , and test the parts I supplied.

Never knew this sort of service existed. When I saw quick fit I initially became concerned as I thought it was another well known installer of tyres etc  The pricing is not too bad looking at their website. Have tried one of our traders for secondhand set but they will not supply due to insurance issues :(.

So once again if anyone has a full set of front seat belts same as in the photo then I would be most interested in them.

Got my belts off Ebay, then sent them to QF who checked the parts to be reused , and fitted new webbing and reels. I will also have another look in the garage , at the back of my mind I have another set of buckles somewhere.

The plot thickens, and gets me slightly worried that the Kangol stalks might not match with the inertia reels as they seem to be of separate manufacture by BSRD Ltd manufactured in May 91.

So if made in 1991, not original, but given the length of the buckles , that makes sense. BSRD ltd had its registered office in Carlisle, but cannot track anything else other than they filed a number of patents on seat belt design . May have been the parent company of Kangol , you never know.

Think I'm speaking to myself here  I have now purchased a set of britax belts via ebay which seem to replicate in detail the versions illustrated in the P6 catalogue.
