Series 1 Bonnet V8 vs 4 Cylinder

Just wondering if the only difference between the Series 1 bonnets (V8 and 4 Cylinder) are the cross bracing stiffeners (4 Cylinder) and the strip across the front. Can one off a 4 cylinder be modified to fit a V8?

Series 1 4 pot bonnets are different to Series 1 V8 and Series 2, which are the same as each other as far as fitting is concerned. I'm sure that they can be made to fit as you want, but IIRC the bonnet slam panel on the base unit will need to be modified to do it.

Simple answer is no, unless you want to drill out and replace the front slam panel.

You can do it the other way around, by buggering around with things a bit, but 4-pot bonnets will only fit series 1 2000s.

Yes, we fitted an S1 V8 bonnet to Bruiser (S1 2000) which meant taking the lock on the bonnet back with a plate.
Is it just because you have a 2000 bonnet that you're asking?

Are the 4 pot bonnets the only ones to have a cross bracing ?

Edit
Looking at images it looks like the 4 pot have cross bracing, and the V8 not. I was trying to identify my S1 bonnet, it came with cross bracing, so I am assuming it is 4 pot.
I fitted it to my S2 V8.
It wasn't easy, but I did not consider the differences when I bought it, and then having spent ages stripping it of paint, it was going to go on come hell or high water. I retained the S2 slam panel.

Thanks all. For context, I;m cuurently stripping a 4 cyl S1 bonnet to paint and use on my SC Auto. Have no plans to do so but I was wondering if I ever wanted to use it on a V8 project in the future. Good ones are getting hard to find here in Aust

I’m looking to fit v8 bonnet to my series one 2000TC
Hoped it was possible to adapt.
Is the V8 bonnet just longer? Did you make a plate to extend the locking mechanism rearward?
Would love to see a drawing.

Yes, they're longer & yes there was a plate made. No drawing, my brother just did it on the hoof & the car is away undergoing major work. Turns out the plate needs replacing now before the bonnet is fitted to the new base unit that Bruiser is being transferred into.
