There was a guy on the forum a while ago if I remember rightly who was looking at getting rid of 2 series one 3500's If I also recall correctly one had a pair of rare 14" Rostyles in mint condition. His Avatar is a picture of Father Jack, does anyone know if these are his?

I think this is the car Lord Pilkington was going to see after he'd been to the Resto Show on Sunday...I suspect he's the winner...we await him chirping up!

So chirp up I will.

Yes I did go and look them both over after Stoneleigh, and nope it wasnt me that bought them!
Although I suspect they may still be for sale!

ps Nick?
Where did you get Lord Pilkington from!
I havent had an honour from the queen yet!
I am the wrong side of the family, but one of my distant uncles was! "Pilkington Glass"

Yeah, it was the same guy. He was pestering me for ages as he wanted a NADA bonnet for his cars, or my entire NADA spares car.. was offering a few hundred quid and a Jaguar XJS with a blown engine in return. He was also trying to convince people that the series 1 was one of the earliest remaining. That didn't get very far either.

I get the impression that he picks up cars, develops a hobby for a few months, and then gets sick of it..

I did offer him some money for the two Rostyles, but he always said that he wanted more than I was willing to give for them. Guessing the cars didn't make as much as he thought. £500 isn't a lot for them.

Yes it was me,
I think pestering is a bit strong yes Chris i did send you quite a few emails asking if you would sell the NADA then the bonnet but pestering come on  I remember the first reason you first gave for not wanting to sell me the bonnet was you didn't want to break NADA and yet you told me you had already sold the interior and the boot mount strange :? Also i was NOT trying to CONVINCE anyone that my series1 was one of the earliest in fact it was the series2 that i THOUGHT may have been a very early series2 and asked many questions on the forum  Also as you put it (i get the impression he picks up cars) whatever that means :? yes i admit i get through a lot of cars but its mainly because my mate has many classics just rotting away and they get swapped between us quite regularly and i do get dispondant easily  As offering me some money for the Rostyles you offered me £50 for the pair which i think they were worth a lot more than 50 measily pounds dont you  moral of your ramblings is get your facts right first before you post enough said :!:

I just thought it suited you. You could get an honour for services to Old Rovers (She does own one you know!)

:D

Nick!

You would deserve such an honour not me!!

Chris!
edited,sorry fraser!

Chas has perfectly legitimate reasons for getting despondant quickly,as working on cars isnt as easy for him as you and I.
If he decides to share this with the forum that is up to him,but I respect his privacy.
Yes it is a very early S2,it has the bonnet uprights on the slam panel, although it would need a chassis no trace to date it exactly.
The seats have been replaced with a very nice, and what may well be a late VIP sand velour set.
I have 2 full sets of 14" rostyles, and wouldnt let an average pair, go for anything less than £125. £150+ each if they were close to mint!

Dave

Fraser? eh?

I don't think I said anything.

Though I'd say £50 quid for two 14" mint rostyles is pretty low. I paid £100 for my 15" rostyles and they were pretty good, minus the rarity factor.

Dave thanks for the privacy and your honesty  but i dont really think about the being harder for me than others to work on cars bit as i have had this from birth and DONT want any sympathy well just a bit if you like  What does pee me off is the way some people/person get the daggers out at any slight chance :? I am a bit older and wiser than that  its prob that i didnt sell him the Rostyles for £50 or offer him £350 for the NADA bonnet which he informed me they sell for oops  i said i was older than wiser than that

I feel this topic is far too personal on quite a number of fronts.

By all means let's have discussions about the current value - ie what you can get somebody to pay! - of various things is; but lets keep personalities and perceived slights or irritation out of it please.

The next post along those lines will be "moderated"¬!¬!

Exactly, end of the day, the Forum is my eyes, is used for people with a mutual interest to share information and ideas a invaluable tool in my eyes, yet I guess it only takes a minority to undermine it.

Always depends on which way the wind is blowing, but I sold five reasonable 15" RoStyles for nearly £300 earlier this year.

We had a set of four 14" RoStyles recently, painted and in need of renovation. They went for £120. £50 for two mint ones is a complete steal.

Cheers
Nick

I don't remember saying the Rostyles were mint :? but they are in very very very good condition
