Setting idle speed

Mine (3500S '73) is def too high (around 1k rpm). Can I adjust this easily? How would I do this or is this rather a specialist's job?

PS: are there any side effects if it's too high?

Its not too bad. Adjust both idle screws equal amounts to make sure you don't lose balance between the carbs.

Make sure that the fast idle screws aren't holding the throttles open.

Also if you're relying on the in-car rev counter telling you it's idling high, get a precision tacho for an accurate reading before making adjustments.

Set the dwell and timing before altering the carbs, as altering those will alter the idle speed.
