Simple way to change V8 engine mounts..

Bracket with mounting attached went back on pretty easily actually. For me this was much less challenging than fitting with bracket in situ.

Am (so far) resisting the temptation to take the passenger side bracket off and paint it so they match.

Finish off re-assembly, test transmission repair and report back tomorrow.
 
When I did this I just riased it a couple of cm on the jack... Is that because sleipnir has the early p5b mounts?
 
A note to previous posters, always replace the engine mounts with new ones, don't be tempted to inspect the old ones and think they are still in good nick, they may look it but that old rubber is only fooling you.

When I replaced my front engine mounts about 3 years ago I found it reasonably straightforward just using my trolley jack, wasn't fun but it was still easy enough and I only lost half a pint of blood and offended my neighbours with all the swearing.
The rear mount on the other hand totally defeated me and I had to call on the services of a friendly mechanic, his hoist, my helping hands and it still took us about 2 1/2 hours and many skinned knuckles.

Here they are in place:

Passenger side - bracket not removed (this time). Drivers side removed and painted - much easier. Only excitement encountered was some big sparks when 9/16 ring spanner shorted across the starter motor terminal. In a rare flash of common sense, I disconnected the battery before continuing.

Sorry Graeme - where is the rear engine mount? I feel like an opportunity has been missed . . . .
