Some ancient history - Repco Brabham and OLDSMOBILE

I was recently at a street car show, and who should turn up, but Nigel Tait himself, with his own BT17!

At one point they tried making the four valves Alternate so each side had an exhaust and an inlet...made for messy plumbing. Flat head V engines often have both inlet and exhaust in the centre

The early series 6xx R-B engines had outside exhausts, but this is a 7xx series - purely done for ease of installation in narrow chassis. I read once of a Riley tuner in the 30s who built one with 2 inlets and 2 exhausts on each side....he tuned it without exhausts by matching the flame lengths.

@jp928 All the Wow! D'ya mean 'A car show on a street', or 'A show of streetable cars'? Did the gentleman drive it there!?!?

A car show on a street - somebody organises a bunch of clubs to display their cars on a Sunday morning - VERY popular event now, lots of public show up, and lots of good interesting cars. MB 300SL gull wing, very good Cobra replica etc. Most drive to it, but I suspect the bt17 was trailered. MB club, porsche, group of Minis, Fiat Topolinis etc.
