Speedo Cables

I am aware there were different cable lengths between the strip speedo (short) and round dials (long) instrument packs, but did the gearbox ends differ between auto and manual gearboxes?

I have been offered a NOS long cable but need to know if this will fit my manual gearbox (standard series 2 TC) in any case, or if not how to identify whether the end is correct for my gearbox.

Thanks

According to the parts book for the 3500 and 3500S, the gearbox ends are very distinct, both in appearance and part number.

I

Yes.

Manual cables have a flange at the gearbox end, held by a horseshoe type clip secured by a nut and stud. There isn't an angle drive.

Auto cables have an internally threaded knurled collar that screws on to an angle drive.

Great thanks. I can picture that exactly as I disconnected the cable from my TC only a few weeks ago. I'll keep an eye out for that type then

If you are close to a gauge shop then you could take them the inner cable and they can make you a new one from the sample!
