Came across this old photo. Could well have been on the forum before.

Not sure if it would be any cheaper to run than the petrol car, but it would be nice and warm inside.

I can remember this pic from my far and distant past.

I am sure that it was a standard car with a petrol engine, but just done up to look like a steam engine.

Iseem to remember also that it wasn't road legal because if restrictive vision.

Long time ago though so I could be totally wrong 8)

Richard

Got through posting without saying I would be chuffed to own it  Oops

Is the plate still alive??

I've just done a couple of quick checks and both came up 'Not found'.

When I see things like this I often think if you disliked your car that much as it was then you could have given it to me - I'd love an early 2000.

I bet it just clipped on the bonnet, not too destructive. :D
Does look like it's just clipped on, maybe for a fate or carnival. Can't imagine any other reason for doing that to a car........

I have a vague recollection that it was a mock-up for a publicity photograph for British Coal.

I think there may have been an article on it in P6 News (or P6 year) a long long time ago.

Yes I think you're right, but it was along time ago.....

I found the mention in P6 Year from 1986. It was on the cover with a brief mention on the first page.

It was one of six prepared by BP as a publicity stunt for the launch of a new oil.

It could be a new alternative to petrol, would be cheaper to run with current petrol prices
