sticky choke ? this is possible solution for some?

Hi there,
Some time ago I had a very sticky choke and tried several different things to fix the problem.
this is my latest fix and it may work for others?
I had previously repositioned the choke , from the center consol to the R/H side of the dashboard by the steering wheel. The cable was long enough to stretch the extra distance .

(I had previously tried to replace the cable in the original hole going through the bulkhead, but could not find the hole again.):(

I attached it to the passenger side carbie this time and it seemed to work for a while.
Then it jammed one morning and I had to pop the bonnet to release it.
Upon examination I determined that the idle adjustment screw on the drivers side carbie was the cause.
It works on a snail cam and the screw was just a tad over the back of the cam and prevented the choke operation leaver from pulling off.

Solution: I slackened the adjusting screw just the smallest amount and the choke cable now pulled off and worked very smoothly. It still lifts the starting leaver the small amount required, even with the screw almost centered on the top of the snail cam.
sorry for this long winded reply, but that is the story..
rant now finished:D

If you look closely at the cam snails, you will see an engraved arrow. The adjusting screws should be adjusted in such a way, that when the cam snail starts to rotate, the screw should touch the cam at the point of the arrow. Of course this is true for both carbs.

hi there,
I did not know that regarding the cams and arrow, I will have a squint tomorrow and see if I can find it. Its not mentioned in the workshop manual, but then lots of the nity-gritty is overlooked in the WM!
thanks for the info..
