Stiff window winders..

Door skin off, 4 bolts removed, unable to move the mechanism more than 1 mm in any direction. Pushing it in away from the bracket feels like there is another fixing of some sort. Same with glass at top and bottom ....What am I missing? Book shows mechanism inwards a bit to allow shaft to go out slot in bracket, then rotate, but if feels very rigid ??? Hard to see clearly in there, but it looks like the back of the mechanism is hard up against the window frame front track?
help!

Have you removed the black metal plate that closes the top of the door? As I recall the routine it was window up, slide the two rollers out of the track one way or the other, then lower the window and manoeuvre the regulator out through the top of the door in the opening exposed by taking that black closing panel off. But my memory is a bit fuzzy on the details.

Worst case, I have a door here I could go take apart after supper & refesh my memory and maybe take a video of the salient points.

Oh, one thing I do remember now — there are two Pozi head screws on that black plate, kind of deep in attaching to the outside door skin at the front, that love to rust in place. Easy to strip.

Reading over the thread, three years ago I though you had to hold the window up to get the regulator out. That memory is three years newer, so maybe we'll go with that for now.

Vern, thanks for your input. Yes, top 'closing plate' removed, glass up, 4 bolts out, mechanism barely moved in any direction, very resistant to go inwards to have spindle clear the black mounting plate. I could still crank the glass down and back up, but mechanism unmovable....Have given up for now - window movement is now much better, and I dont want to get stalled on this issue. All back together now. Cant find anything on the web that helps - this issue must be rare?
thanks

Mine has a fifth bolt, not mentioned in the Hayne's manual, just above the 4. I removed that as well and the mechanism became completely detached in the door shell and easy to move around. Still couldn't get it out though - I can't get it past the vertical window channel.
