strange ignition problem

i have a strange problem with the ignition (i think).
first: everything is new! engine, ignition (fingers, contacts, capacitor, cap, spark plug cable,), carbs. but not the wiring harness or something like that. the car runs perfectly for about 10 minutes. then ignition failures begin and the tachometer does confused dances. the next day everything is fine again ... but only for 10 minutes. so .... now today i also put in an ignition distributor from an sd1, plus: new cables, new coil. after 10 minutes the same problem.

I also noticed days ago... that the coil is very hot. after that I inststalled another suitable one, but the car still ran badly

maybe ballast wire problem or wrong coil?

My guess would be a bad capacitor that is shorting to earth when hot.

i still have a ballast resistor from mallory on the shelf. should we do this in between

It can't be a capacitor .. because I've just installed a new one from jrw

Hi, It can be, just because it's new it doesn't mean it can't fail.

the quality sucks today

but i had the same problem with a sd1 distributor, so i look at the data of the coil again

If the capacitor was sourced from China then all bets on it's fitness for purpose are off.
