Hello everyone,
I am Rolf, Stefan´s (transexl, here on the forum, too) little brother, married with Pamela, I´ve got two girls (Lisa, 10, Hanna, 4). I love old cars, untill several months ago never thought about having one though, now looking forward to having a P6 in the future as soon as we spot one in GB (added on 17. of August 2011: We found a car !!!)

1. THANK YOU ALL OF YOU, for your support, your different oppinions about a unique car, your pros and contras, it makes things easier for me knowing that there are so many people who take care as I know so little about the P6 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

2. Why the P6 ???? Like I mentioned before, I love old cars, especially the ones from the 60ies/70ies. When S., Heike (his girlfriend) and me started thinking about
getting a car, there were different directions /cars we thought into/about, all ending in a "Too boring" or "Too expensive" or "Too expensive AND boring". As Stefan
and I are half dutch (mother) and used to live VERY,VERY close to the border in a little village where untill some years ago the RAF was sitting, we had quite different
cars running through our lifes, among them the P6 (and SD1 and Reliant and Vauxall and Jags and....). Why not an Opel or a Citroen (two makes I´m very fond of) ???
Simply because I know all off them (Commodore, Ascona, SM, Ami, DS etc.) as there are quite a view running "next door". After long thinking I can remember having
seen ONE P6 back somewher in the early nineties (must have been a cameron green V8). After that one..........NOTHING, they have completely disappeared in
Germany and the Netherlands, at least that´s what it feels like !!!! You can see DSes, all kinds of old Mercedeses, MGs, Jags, Opel, even NSU ro80 (quite rare even
here), Maybach, old french cars, old expensive cars, old cheap cars, pre and post WWII cars but I really haven´t seen a P6 life since that day, not even on big meetings
or shows !!!! It also seemed to be a classic car not reachable to us as it is an exotic type here, I never tought prices are so different in GB. Together with its unique
look (some people say strange, few even say ugly), the outstanding technique and the thought of "And now for something completely different !", I´m very glad we
made this choice !!!!!! :D

Bye

Rolf

Welcome to the forum, the P6 is certainly a car that invites comment every where they go with there European look and timeless style. Once you own one they grow on you even more and unlike many classic cars are a very drivable classic car that stands up well against current modern cars for driving practacality.

Hello Rolf! Very nice to meet you here after hearing so much about you. Your English is very good, no need to be modest! I'm sure the right car for you all will emerge soon.

Regards

Chris

Hello and welcome to the forum.... Your English is very good...much better than my German!

Hi Rolf,

Welcome!

I live near Aschaffenburg, Bavaria. I fully agree with your judgement concerning the unique character of the P6. After thirty years of getting bored by other cars I recently returned to a 2000TC. If you don't shy away of doing a repair job yourself every now and then, this forum is a rich source of inspiration. They help you irrespective of your technical background or the stupidity of your question.

And as to the presence of P6s in Germany I suggest you call up the following address. It is the German forum with ca. 46 members.
http://de.groups.yahoo.com/group/RoverP6-info/

Surely everybody is looking foreward to see a photo of your acquisition. Be bold! By the way: I am 72.

Regards

Thank you all of you !!!!!

I hope I´m pushing the right buttons for a reply. Vin, technical Questions will be Stefans thing as he already has much experience with Motorbikes and engines. I´m willing to learn everything about fixing a car/P6 but untill that point I only know how a car works and I know about the technical "specials" of the P6. I hope my Questions won´t be too stupid though.

Chris, congratulations, Happy birthday, many more years !!!!!!!

... hat es geschafft !

Hallo Rolf

"Lissen closely, I shall say sis önly önce".

Hi Vin

Thank you for your info on the German site/forum, your encouraging words.

Heike and me are at a "Oldtimer-Stammtisch" from time to time. That consists of guys well into their 60s and 70s and all bikers. We love to sit and hear all they have to tell, especially of course about old bikes - well, bikes that THEY bought new and are now classics... :D .

As Heike is from Nürnberg and we like to go there to meet family, we just MIGHT make it to show our P6 to you in the future - should we have the money to pay the v8-fuel to Bavaria ... .

Looking forward to hearing from you

stefan

Oh: PLEASEPLEASEPLEASE DO send us a list of cars (bikes, tractors, trucks, locomotives - planes ? :D ) that you drove or owned...

Hi Stefan,

there is a misunderstanding. Since 1980 I have merely been driving the current car makes, no oldtimers. There are no photos of any relevance. Only recently I returned to a real automobil.

However I have a few black and white photos of the following oldies that I had a relation to: De Havilland Tigermoth, De Havilland Dragon Fly, De Havilland Chipmonk and also a Triumph Herald I owned in the sixtees. Mail me if interested.

By the way: Ruediger Wicke, who posted the preceding greetings, is the webmaster of the German forum that I mentioned.

Yours
Vin

That´s right - but it´s not a forum like this, just a Yahoo Group
