The Rover P6 Club Ireland excursion July 2015

The Rover P6 Club are in the process of putting together a long weekend trip to Dublin. The highlight of the trip will be the largest classic car show in Ireland, held at Terenure College. We are waiting for the actual date to be confirmed, but is expected to be early July 2015.

We will also be organising a road run, probably in Wicklow (in addition to the drive to Dublin!).

Accommodation will be on a Bed & Breakfast basis.

We are trying to get an idea of how many members are interested in joining us on this trip - if you are interested in coming and to find out further information and make contact, see our news page http://www.p6club.com/content/club-trip-ireland

Brian : I don't know whether you have tried costing the Holyhead ferry recently, but we have paid over £300 return for summer sailings . Very expensive for a long weekend

The ferry aren't the cheapest, but it sounds like a good event. We were thinking of making it into a weeks stay to see a bit more of Ireland too.

Us too Paul. Went to Dublin a couple of years ago and would love to see more of Ireland. For those in the north it might be easier, or cheaper, to get the ferry from Cairnryan to Larne in Northern Ireland and work your way down.

Hi,

As you can imagine I crossed that stretch of water many times over the years and it’s ridiculously expensive!!! Ireland is however well worth the effort of visiting :)

Don’t rule out Birkenhead – Belfast as a route, it can cut out a lot of the driving mainland side, the road from Belfast to Dublin is also very good, and a couple of hours will zip you down there. You’ll find the pricing for this ferry very similar to the Holyhead – Dublin one, despite being much longer sailing. To keep cost down consider a day sailing as the night ones are significant premium, take a cabin as they are cheap during the day sailing and relax.

If this happens I’m sure a number of us from this side would meet up with you.

Tim
