Can someone tell me what the Thing under the accelerator pedal is?
Is just a stop, surely not, too fancy for that....

I think it is a spring loaded plunger that works in tandem with the kick down function on an auto box, if you remove it your throttle will open further and your car will do 200mph.

It's just a button. When the throttle linkage and kickdown cable are correctly adjusted, when you use the kickdown function, you can feel something through the pedal.

OK, thanks....
Car was converted from an Auto to Manual long enough ago that I can't remember what was done!! 200mph sounds interesting. I'll report back.

Nowadays Some autos have electric kickdowns, where there is a switch under the pedal fires a solenoid in the box to kick it down. My 83 928 had such a fitting, to which I added a foot operated override so I could get kickdown at ~80% throttle, rather than at Full War Setting.

In Australia some times you have to watch out as that thing under the accelerator pedal may be a snake!
