Torque tube

I use a Rover SD1 rear axle in my Grinnall TR8 and would like to know if anyone has a spare Extension Tube Assembly PKC 1363 knocking around in their garage they dont want. My unit is suffering the dreaded worn splines syndrome.
Also I should like to know if any members have dealt with this problem in more innovative (and cheaper) ways?
I have a couple of technical questions related to this item: Does it matter which way the oil seal carrier goes into the Extension tube/pinion casing and what is the large screw for at the axle end of the Extension Tube Assembly for?

If this screw is on the bottom of the tube ISTR that there's a pinion seal on the front of the diff, and if oil comes out when you remove that screw then the seal has failed, but I may have dreamt that, or it may just be absolute b*ll*cks.

Thanks Harvey, that what I thought too. Bit of an odd one though.
In respect to the pinion oil seal carrier that sits half way in to axle nose and the Extension Tube casing. It seems that this can go in either up or down. Not sure which way is correct as there is a big cut out in the carrier.
