i everyone, i am looking to get a towbar to tow small lightweight trailers. not seen anyone on Ebay but wondered if anyone on here knows of one going spare, or who makes one to fit.
many thanks

You can have the one off mine if you want it. I have no use for it and can take it off, I'll just need to get some of those rubber bungs to fill the holes! PM me and make an offer! Same year, same model!!

I have one but won't be able to dig it out until Sunday.
It's worth knowing that they come in different types.
The bar which runs below the bumper can be straight or curved. Straight ones make fitting overriders difficult. If your car doesn't have overriders, that's not a problem.
Then the brace which runs under the boot floor has a couple of variations. One type is bolted through the jacking point (the rectangular thing in the centre) which needs drilling for fitment. The other type uses two parallel braces that run either sider of the jacking point.

I also have one, it is straight type and sitting in my garage loft.

You can are welcome to it, I am over in the west if you are struggling.

Thanks for the replies and info. Sorry its taken a while to respond but been very busy at work with lots of shifts.

Thank you for the offer. I would hate for you to disassemble your car just for me. There appear to be a couple lying around so i will go for those first but thank you.

Great info Willy, it seems a straight is good for mine.

Jolly good - I have a straight one with the bracing members that run either side of the jacking point. I had it stripped and galvanised a couple of years ago so shouldn't ever rust. You will need to buy the bolts that go through the boot floor to fit it
How does £30 plus postage sound? I'd hope to be able to send it by courier (in the UK) for around a tenner.
PM me your email address if you'd like to see a photo.

There's a tow ball fitted but that isn't galvanised.

Looks like i have a tow bar.... thanks Willy.
Thank you everyone for the advice and offers to dismantle cars to supply one.

Hi Willy.

Finally got a spare weekend to fit the towbar. Removed the old bumper bars and fitted the new ones... thanks again. Did the heavy juggling act to lift tge towbar into place between said bars, distance fine etc but the top of the ball block is fouling the bumper and is stopping the towbar to be fitted correctly.
I fitted two bolts ( nearest the boot) to allow me to swivel the towbar up into position, the block then fouls the lower bumper edge and stops the towbar from becoming level and the final two bolts do not line up.
Am i being stupid here or is there some trick in the fitting process that i am missing?

Hi Dean,
Sorry to hear you're struggling. I'm trying to remember whether I'd ever removed the ball block from the towbar and just bolted them back together for storage. In which case they might allow some adjustment. It can help to have the whole lot loose, only tightening all the bolts once it's together.
Is it fouling by a small amount that could be adjusted out in that way, or by a huge amount suggesting that I've mixed up two different units?

Thanks for the replies guys.
I will try fitting without the ball unit and try to slide the bumper back into place to see if i can get a fit.
A spacer might be the answer if that works.
On back shifts now untill thursday so will try again then, i will keep you updated.

Finally got around to fitting the towbar i bought.
What a hassle that was... the new fitting bolts were bigger than the old ones leaving very little wiggle room. Eventually got them tightened, although i have jet to remove my socket, thats stuck tighter than a Scotmans wallet.
Just have to fit the wiring and the 2 under boot supports but not planning to tow anything just yet so that can wait for the next nice working day.
Anyone have any advice on the wiring?

Agree with Colin . If I remember correctly the standard light connections ( Bullet connectors) to the trailer socket are in the boot area so no scotch locks needed . The connections are shown in the wiring diagram near the end of the list.
