Two is better than one?

So I restored a 2200TC some thirty plus years ago and loved it. Have always wanted another P6, and fancied a B.
Couldn't find a good project car here in NZ and then 2000TC came up for cheap. Not having been on the road for 8 years and with an SC head on it, the body was rust free so I bid on it and was leading the online auction. A few days later a B project car came up for really cheap having not been on the road for 14 years and no fuel pump to even see if it ran.
So I bid on that too, and won them both. The B is also rust free so hopefully will be a nice car.
So the plan is to convert the 2000 back to TC, tidy it up, get it road legal, and flick it on to hopefully pay for some of the V8 bits I will need.
Lots of work ahead methinks.

Good buys Duane!

I don't know about the blue, but the green is British Racing Green which only a scant few Rovers received. It is actually a Triumph colour. In Australia I have only seen 2 or at the most 3 Rovers wearing that shade. Not sure how common it was in NZ.

It is an unusual shade that I havent been able to see on any other P6s on the web. Will definitely keep the colour as I really like it

A friend of mine has a Rover wearing British Racing Green. His Dad purchased the car in 1977, and has the paid code written down. The NZ cars (not sure about the UK assembled Rovers) had a Dulon sticker inside the engine bay on the N/S guard displaying the colour code. I can find out from him what the code is, then when the time comes, you can take that to an auto paint shop and they can make the colour perfectly, as it was when your Rover was brand new.

Mine looks quite different to that. It is almost Olive. I'll take a panel to a paint shop and get them to match it. I haven't looked for a paint code under the bonnet.
 
Hi, It does to me as well, Cameron Green darkens with age from being a (to me) more striking colour when fresh.

So thought I'd post an update on my "projects".

The 2200TC is finished and will hopefully find a new owner in the springtime here. SC head was removed and replaced with the original TC and carbs, all mechanicals gone through. I rebuilt the interior using my trusty industrial sewing machine making patterns from the original seats and door cards, and painted the car last summer. Came out okay for a home restoration.

The V8 has been fighting me all the way, but I think I am over the hump. Transmission requiring a full recondition wasn't in the equation, but this car is a keeper so worth the money to get it done right rather than put in an unknown used trans. The engine seems fine - no smoke and sounds smooth, have been through the brakes, and suspension changing rubber boots and ball joints as required. De Dion tube seals and boots changed on both cars.
I have spend the winter months re-upholstering the interior and am very happy with the results. Opted for all black for the mean look and just have the door cards to complete. It must be said that the box pleat seats are much more challenging to make than the series one style - a lot of work to get these right.
Summer will get me into the body and I hope to get a decent match to the existing paint colour which I just love. I'm also thinking a tint to the side and rear glass to protect from the harsh NZ sun will give it quite a neat look too.

Note all work apart from the TC head recon, and the V8 transmission has been done by myself in my garage. The beauty of these cars is that they are so easy to work on.
