Wanted boot mounted spare wheel cover for 3500 and boot support stay rod and bracket.

Hi,
I am interested please let me know what you have and how much please? all i need is the bracket rod and cover i have all the rest of the bits ;)

OK there is no wheel cover.
There is a possibility that the rod or bracket is on the underside of the lid. I put the link up to see if it would bear fruit for you, obviously not, as you have not been bothered to contact the vendor !

Don't shoot the messenger, most folks would buy that lid for what is there, not quibble about what is not.

I do appreciate you finding this add for me i'm shooting no one:oops: i will contact the seller but did initially think it was you selling or someone you knew why would i buy the lid when i have one with all the bits except what i have listed ?

Hi, To be honest both the rod and the bracket holding it to the boot lid are simple fabrications and could be made from scratch, which I'm sure some other kind soul could furnish more details of.

Colin

Hi, I used a gas strut once in the past but had it arranged that it was quick disconnect when no wheel on the outside. It was from a Ford Orion boot lid if I remember correctly because it was short.

I have a gas strut on my boot mounted spare. Works Great and was an easy install.
The "gas strut guy" measured the length of travel along with the weighted boot , and he came up with the appropriate strut. I then installed it.
When not in use,ie no mounted spare tyre, It flicks out of the way

Last pic shows with boot half open and quite happy to stay there.
The gas strut will stay in any position.
Ive never bothered to screw the bottom foot down as it grips onto the rubber over lay very securely
hope this helps

The weighted boot and strut travel has direct bearing on what you will have to work with.

If i can't get the bracket and rod i'm thinking two not so heavy duty gas struts one either side to balance/share the load and forces in two areas rather than all in one ;)

I'm a little snowed under between work and building up P6 electric windows, but will get into the shed this weekend..
