Water leaking into sill

Hi guys,

Long story cut very short I have over the last few weeks cut out and replaced most of the front 50% of one inner sill (UK car - passenger side) after finding some fibreglass bodges and lots of rust!

The car is nose up on axle stands, as the work initially started off as being a bit of front suspension work.

However...

I have now noticed that water appears to be running down the inside of the A-post and pooling inside the sill itself, coming down past the front jacking point - what are the likely sources for this?

With the car in its current position the scuttle and around the bottom of the windscreen where the bonnet hinges are tends to stay full of water as there is not the angle for it to run off. Being March its not warm enough to evaporate either!

I don't really want to close up the sills fully (I have started welding the outer now) until I have found and eliminated this source of water ingress, dried out my new steel work and taken steps to rust proof it some more.

Any advice appreciated, thanks

Jamie

*edit - can a Moderator please move this to the bodywork section? I have no idea why I posted in here - thanks!

Have you taken the trim off the A pillar either side of the windscreen? If you do you may find holes which allow water off the roof to run inside the A pillar and down into the sill.

Thanks for the reply (sorry for the late response) I did take that side off when I first got the car, chasing a water leak into the cab - no rust there and no holes that shouldn't be.
