Folks

Went to Tadley and had a look at this earlier. It's an unfinished project - the base unit is completely done. All the parts are apparently there to put it back together. The panels on the car are mostly toast.

The engine was run strapped to a pallet some years ago. I had been rebuilt.

Putting it on here in the hope there's someone brave enough to take it on.

I saw this on ebay the other day. It looks like a brilliant project for someone on here! I like the fact that a potential purchaser would be allowed to finish the resto to their own spec.

I went there with my business head on (in theory it would be an excellent breaker), and left praying someone can be found to take it on complete.

Enticing though the engine could be - it's not run in many years, and even then for only five minutes.

What is the actual ruling now? Is it constructed before 01/01/1974 from next year?

EDIT: Found it now.

2.148 VED: classic vehicle exemption – The Government will extend the cut off date from which classic vehicles are exempt from VED by one year. From 1 April 2014 a vehicle manufactured before 1 January 1974 will be exempt from paying VED. (Finance Bill 2014)
 
at £250 its cheap and already in bits.... thats actually good if you live close by and dont mind a project!
 
Hello folks.

I am the new owner of the car in question. Ive started to build the car up. Its not original by any stretch, but im not a stickler for that sort of thing, if im honest!

Its going to be my daily driver when its done, providing the engine turns out to be ok, because as said, it hasnt been run for a few years. It will be run soon, but ive no idea how to wire the car up yet, ive bought a proper workshop manual to follow. Once ive done that i can probably get the car running.

This is how the car stands as of very recently.

As far as plans go, im going to get the car together, running, etc etc. Get it through an MOT as it is and then use it for a while as a sort of shakedown period. Providing nothing goes spectacularly wrong, only then will i paint it (no point painting a lemon, should it turn out to be like that, though i highly doubt it will)

Hope this car doesnt offend anyone, but some might be pleased to know its going to be used at least!
