That's Christmas done. In year's past I would be in a set of overalls now nailing bits on a car. I unwrapped a shiny Tilton brake bias valve yesterday, so that is on the list to fit.

What are you working on ?

Still putting the fuel tank back :)

When he's up in the air, I do need to fit the return springs on the jag hand brake linkages, which I forgot to fit.

I have also rebuilt the carbs on the bike, and need to tune them. I bought one of those colourtune thingies and am going to have a play with it.

So, not a lot compared with years gone by

Hi, Be aware colourtune is a bit suspect with modern fuels, first with the proliferation of lead free fuel and later the use of bio fuel ratios. This can affect the flame colours so as not to be reliable. Discuss.

I am resolutely ignoring the fact that I need to put the gearbox and transfer box back into my Discovery, and that I have a P5 engine to fit the crank into and button up....

I am trying to rebuild the master brake cylinder on my 1968 Saab 96 V4. It is more tricky to do than the dual circuit master cylinder on the Rover 3500s.

Bikes running and I got really cold blatting up and down the road on it yesterday :p

Tank is in, everything connected up, been down the garage and put some petrol in it. Pump is a bit noisy though  so may have to remove that and flush it through. Still got the speaker, parcel shelf and rear seats to re-install, but he drives well, very well :)

Didn't fit the return springs, I really must get to that

I'm making a manifold. Got a nice radio (retrosounds one) to go in so might idly do that.

@quattro , did you ever get your AVO shocks sorted on the front? I've got some to go on...

FYI
If you find those AVO units a bit soft AVO can re valve them to offer a stiffer damping range for 15 quid a pop.

I need to find the source of a PAS fluid leak, moved the car just before Christmas and discovered a puddle round nearside front wheel, any quick suggestions as to what to look for? Ta, Mick

I am still rebuilding the lt77 I have to go in mine, whilst the poor thing sits outside under cover with no box fitted. Trouble is other stuff keeps getting in the way and I am probably averaging 1/2- 1 hour a week at the mo, not a good way to make speedy progress!

Nope, never did get them to fit properly. I must admit that the current set up I have is fairly good, and I'm not going to be messing with it.
damn. I'd hoped you were going to blindside me with a "oh they just need this" They are being challenging and saying things like 'oh nobody else has ever had this problem" Sigh. A job for the next decade I think!

Happy New Year all!

Thanks, guys, just wondering if there was something obvious to check, hadn’t started car in a few weeks. Am I right in thinking it just uses ATF, any one in particular?

If your car is an auto you can use the same fluid as you put in the autobox. M2C-33F/G. Your PAS leak could be the pipe fittings on the pump worked loose. Check that, and then clean the pump and run the engine and you should be able to see where the fluid is coming from.

They just need the mounts off your old shocks welding on to the new ones without melting anything inside. You can then use the original style rubbers or poly and they wont rattle.

ermm... ok, oh they just need removing and putting in a box somewhere :). I must admit that I had actually forgotten about them. but I was told by the supplier that they sold loads of them and no-one else had said anything. They did send me some sleeves the following day, and they did make them fit a lot better, but they still rattled.
