here's the Remembrance Day as far as that paper is concerned but what does it mean for you? my Dad was in the Reme , these photos are late 1946/ 1947 which is after the end of WWII but prior to that, my Dad was in the Home Guard because he was too young for the Regular Army , do you have relations who served in a war?

A Veteran is anyone who has served, even for a day. They offer to put their lives on the line for their country and their allies, in the hope that someone else does not have to.

The article in the express should have been written by a Veteran. It refers to celebrations - we don't celebrate, we remember. It's also not just a Commonwealth day. A lot of our allies who are not members of the Commonwealth remember this day, especially in the US.

It's not just about the first and second world wars; it's about all wars and conflicts where people have served. Lately, this includes the Falklands, the first Iraq war, Kosovo, and since 9/11, Iraq, Afghanistan, and other parts of the world.

and to top it all off Jack Hargreaves talking about himself IN THE ARMY which he joined in 1940 through to 1945
looks like he went through WWII in possession of a poaching rod which in 1945 he intended to use at the River Rhine in Nazi Germany

My Father served in WW2, and was deeply troubled by what he went through, until his untimely death in 1980.

I am frankly disgusted by the way we treat our soldiers who have fought for us and have been scarred both physically and mentally.

I'm a tad late finding this post, but I'm proud to give remembrance to my father and four of his siblings who served in WWII. A lot for one family to send off to war. (my dad was in DDay, but prior was in a topographic intelligence unit in the village of Tetbury in the UK where he was when I was born.)Leggs WWII.jpg
