What is this part?

Hi all,
Was tidying up the boot in the P6 and came across this item. I can’t remember/recall what it is or where it’s from.

Any suggestions?

I think it goes between the window winder handle and the door card. And/or the door release handle. ???

Only the chrome ring is used on the opening handle ,a black plastic ring used on the window winder handle.

Depends on the age of the car. Early cars used them on both..

If it is, it should be tapered. At least for the door handle, the window winder may be non tapered. But it's my first thought too. Checking parts catalogs now.

Talking Series 1 cars only, early cars had chrome, 352419 for the window winders, 352421 for the door handle. Then we get the black, 367163 for the window & 367164 for the door handle.

Same black parts are speced for the Series 2 through January of 74.
